The texture of these new cream shadows is interesting. They look like they are going to be soft but they are actually really firm. You do have to warm them up a little to get them flowing, but once you have done that, the color moves more easily.

You can use your finger to apply the color, and then a fluffy brush to buff out the edges.

As I said, the actual product is very firm in the pot, which I was surprised at at first. However, as the colors are very pigmented, you don’t want to pick up too much so it kind of works. If it was super creamy, you could definitely end up over-applying and in fact, if you use too thick a layer with this formula, you probably won’t get the best result.

For the best finish, I recommend applying a small amount directly on to the lid with your fingertip, and then blending out with a fluffy brush. If you over apply, you may find that the formula dries out too much and creases. This is one of the downsides of the firmness / dryness of the product.

I think the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Eyes to Mesmerise shade range is really beautiful. They are all soft neutrals that will suit a range of skin tones and create a variety of looks.

The black looks a bit scary, but with a small brush you can create a really soft yet intense smokey eye with minimal effort. The formula of the black shade actually has a slightly different texture to the others – slightly less matte and a little glossier and slippier (just an FTY!).

I think my favorite shade is the Flawless Beige. Also a light layer of Nude Cashmere makes a good base for any eye look for fairer skin tones.

Finally, applied in a thin layer, the staying power is impressive. I have tested the Nude Cashmere and Flawless Beige on my lids and it lasted last really well without moving or creasing. Also, I used the black shade as a smokey liner and that performed very well too.

Also, when I did my swatches, I had to use actual makeup remover and a fairly firm hand to remove them. They didn’t want to go anywhere! You will need an oil-based eye makeup remover to gently remove from the eye area.

If you are expecting a similar texture to the original Eyes to Mesmerise pots, I think you may be disappointed as they are totally different.
