I don’t need to give younew parent I don’t have time‘spiel, but seriously people don’t lie when they say that. These babies will only have fun for a period of about two minutes in which they can now somehow recharge their laundry, make a morning smoothie and brush their teeth. It’s amazing what you can do without delay, it really is. So my beauty routine has been reduced like never before and although it was a few weeks when I managed to clean my face it was a little miracle, now I have settled into a mini weight loss routine that makes me feel and look awake even when I am awake from 4 in the morning. TA-DAH! Today I thought I would share my super fast beauty editing from head to toe which makes me feel like a real man again…

Before the boy arrived, I remember reading Caroline’s blog post where did she mention ‘Pajamas and shower‘rule. If you are about to have a baby, I highly recommend you read it and HELL IT’S SO RIGHT. You really need a shower every day – even if you put on fresh pajamas only after that. It sounds completely obvious, but when you’re really choking, sometimes just thinking about the energy it takes to get up in the shower is enough to annoy you, but take a shower – That’s why I always felt better. These days, I keep my shower, body and hair routine extremely simple. First shower with Kiehl’s Made For All Body Wash*, then I discovered that Beauty Pie Detox Shampoo* is just as good as the other cleansing formulas I use and I like the half price so I wash my hair every other day. Then when I go out in the shower, I rub Susanne Kaufmann stretch mark oil* on my stomach (yes, I’m still on that train!), put on deodorant, dry my hair if I washed it and we’re done. Once a week I try to make a layer Tax-Luxe Gradual* all over just because I feel good and Sunday bathing always goes well and I am very happy to have it Himalayan salt therapy for detoxification* back to my life.

I actually miss a huge part of my beauty routine here – HAND CREAM! Oh my word when the newborn is around you wash your hands EVERYONE. THE. TIME and I think my hands have never been so dry. Mark and I love it Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve* (ad – gifted), but there is Kiehl’s rich moisturizing scented hand cream in grapefruit* (ad – donated) in his night drawer and I beg him to let me use it before bed every night because it smells so ridiculously good.

While my shower routine was pretty standard, my skin care is a bit ubiquitous so I’ll share some sort of ‘in the middle‘routine; sometimes I work more and other times I just use one or two products for the morning or afternoon. I try to clean myself in the morning and in the evening, and that’s how it is still love for Kiehl’s Centella Sensitive Facial Cleanser*, then I follow it with some kind of spray like this Dr. Jart ceramide spray mist* (advertisement – gift), and then eye cream because the hell my eyes are shaking and I’m currently using Beauty Pie Triple Hyaluronic Acid Lifting Eye Serum* (advertisement – donated). If it is morning then I sometimes follow this with some kind of serum niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, then moisturizer or oil and finish with Beauty Pie Super Healthy Skin Feather Light SPF 50* or if it’s evening I go directly with Allies of Skin Promise Keeper Flemish Facial* and call it for the day. But really bare bones are cleansing, spray and SPF in the morning and cleansing and cleansing Allies of the skin product in the evening.

Make up

I may not wear makeup every day, but sometimes I just like a little face, you know? And whenever I get a chance to slap someone, it makes me good. I only use a few products, I use one or two brushes and I can apply it mostly with my eyes closed. First up MAC face + body in C2*, injected on a kabuki with a flat tip and applied it all over. It only gives a light coverage and a little shine when I need it most. As for the concealer, I had to turn it up a bit so now tap it Dior Forever Skin Correct cream concealer in 2N color*. This is actually great on its own when I can’t apply powder underneath. Next I do bronzer – I currently use it Marc Jacobs Bronzer in Tan-Tastic* (advertisement – donated) – and I just use a big powder brush to wipe it everywhere. Then I use Patrick Ta Major eyebrow lamination gel* which is just amazing, apply a little bronzer over the lid with a small fluffy brush, apply a little Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Wet Waterproof Mascara*, then whatever lip balm I have around (actually Hermes Rosy lip enhancer in 30 is really lush, if not ridiculously priced!), and I’m ready. Finito and ready to sing Old McDonald for the 188th time that day.
